Printmakers Inc is proud to present Patrick Sargent’s solo exhibition titled "Doleful Whimsy.”
In his printmaking exhibition, Patrick explores 'doleful whimsy'—where sadness meets playfulness on paper. Through relief prints, cyanotypes, and silkscreens, he captures the delicate balance between melancholy and light-heartedness. Each print invites viewers into a world where tears and laughter coexist, celebrating the beauty found within the complexity of human emotion.
Originally from Detroit, MI, Patrick attended George Mason University, receiving a BFA in printmaking and an MFA in Critical Arts Practice (socially engages art). Collaborative arts processes -- such as printmaking and papermaking -- are catalysts for communities to experiment with forms of expression and creativity, and are also opportunities to foster new ideas, advance critical thinking, and form relationships. With fellow GMU alum Erwin Thamm he formed a collaboration to explore artistic engagement through local and national community outreach and veteran support programs.
Please join in the celebration of “Print Day in May” for free day-long printmaking workshops and demonstrations from 12pm to 5pm on the following Fridays 3, 17, 31 May 2024. Printmakers Inc, Studio 14, Torpedo Factory Art Center, Alexandria, VA.
