silkscreen and silkscreen collages

I have chosen silkscreen printing as my medium because it best expresses my love of color and design. I draw my inspiration mainly from Nature, particularly leaves and trees; my most recent series is based on the American chestnut tree. However, I have also taken other directions: silkscreen collages created from earlier abstract prints, which I call a retro series of clockwork-like images; amusing portraits from drawings of children; and familiar scenes from the Washington area. I often combine images with geometric shapes, moire patterns or designs from papers that I previously marbled. I like to experiment, creating many layers of color and variations in design.
